Rhino Grasshopper

Task: To develop a single Grasshopper definition that will panelize a facade and report its output over a mass.

Requirements: 

  • Using Grasshopper, subdivide the façade based off a column grid and floor levels.  Each panel in between a column bay should be approximately 5 feet in width as a default. Create an adjustable parameter should this change. With any adjustments to the spacing, the edge of the panels should always touch the column grid in plan. Save 3 screenshots of the subdivision using 3 different panel spacings showing that they touch the column grid.

  • Populate the facade with the 3 panel types.

  • Extract the quantities and locations of the 3 types by floor level into Grasshopper panels

  • Output the quantities and locations of the panel types to Excel.

 

Revit + Dynamo

Task: To demonstrate knowledge of Revit and Dynamo’s automation, modeling and database feature, replicate a facade system creating a series of Curtainwall Types.

 

Requirements:

  • Curtain Panels must all derive from one Adaptive Component Family.

  • Curtainwall shape should be driven by the “Building Mass” Mass family

  • Create a Curtain Panel Schedule with the following parameters:

    • Curtain Panel Height

    • Curtain Panel Width

    • Number of Fins

    • Fin Identifier Code.

  •  Excel Report of Parameters listed in the Curtain Panel Schedule, exported via Dynamo
